Takuma Sato UK

What do Formula One drivers do with their helmets after each race? Takuma Sato saved all his, then decided to sell his collection to devoted fans. Takuma is an A-List celebrity in Japan, so it seemed likely that each helmet would command a very high price, which in turn justified a budget for high-end photography to help sell them.

We took almost 50 photographs, from multiple angles, and lavished over an hour of post-production work on each. When the helmets, as anticipated, sold like hot cakes, we were then asked to do another photographic shoot, with the same high production values, of a variety of signature items, including a Seiko limited edition watch, Takuma models, caps, boots and gloves.

We also designed and printed (at Formula One speed) some stickers for the side of Takuma’s racing car and the bottles of a sponsor, Super H2O, in time for a race the following day.

“We showed them the quality of photography we were looking for, and they created shots to an even higher standard, very quickly and on budget.”
